IAAF World Athletics Championships 2013
Moscow, 10th - 18th August

Join us in Russia...

Named after the river that runs through it, Moscow is one of the greatest metropolis in the World, a city famed for its history, culture, architecture and landmarks including The Kremlin, Red Square and St.Basil’s Cathedral (pictured).

This will be the third time Moscow has hosted a global athletics championships. All the action will take place in the same arena that hosted the 1980 Olympics and the great duels of Coe and Ovett. We invite you to join us in this fantastic city for World-class athletics and a trip of a lifetime in the capital city of Europe’s largest and possibly most diverse country.

Anticipating that many will wish to include a sight-seeing trip to St. Petersburg, one of the most beautiful cities anywhere on Earth, we have plans for a fantastic value 3-night add on after the championships. Travelling by train to take in the scenery on the way, we will plenty of excursion options including a city tour, Hermitage, Catherine’s Palace (Pushkin), Peterhov, Yusopov Palace, canal trips and more. To avoid returning to Moscow for the flight home, we have a special group reservation with BA, flying direct to London from St.Petersburg.

Centresport Travel Ltd, specialist tour operators to athletics events for over 30 years, will be hosting the trip and Graham Botley, tour leader extraordinaire, will be on hand to deal with most requests!

We are delighted to offer every customer the opportunity to avoid the stress and uncertainty of the visa application process. Our specialist Russian connections will provide guidance with the online form; deal with the formality of the visa invitation letter; and check all documentation in advance of submission. This service includes all administration costs associated with the process and special delivery trips to Russian Embassy. The visa service procedure can start as soon as booking has been made or at any suitable time for you. It can take up to 10 working days and we will allow 15. If this is too long to be without your passport, there is a faster service at extra cost. The standard charge for this hassle-free and highly-recommended service is £105.

The All Sports Travel team is proud to be teaming up again with Centresport Travel Ltd and Graham Botley, specialist tour operator to athletics events for more than 30 years.

Tour Itineraries

The athletics programme starts with a bang - the Men’s 100m qualifying is at 10.10 on the first morning of competition. Bolt and Gemili anyone?

The standard tour duration is ten nights, arriving the day before and leaving the day after the championships. But, with a 4-hour flight and 2-hour time change, we strongly recommend an extra day at the start to recover from the journey and allow for orientation. The rare opportunity to include the spectacle that is St.Petersburg requires a 3-night extension, very attractively priced and expected to be very popular. This can be added to 10-night and 11-night options.

Thursday 8th     Early starters depart for extra sightseeing in Moscow.
Friday 9th

Fly to Moscow from your chosen UK airport, to be met on arrival for private transfer to your hotel.

The Luzhniki stadium is the largest in Russia with over 75,000 seats for Athletics (all covered). This fantastic complex is on the southern-side of the city and only 25-30 mins from our hotels in the city centre by metro (much faster than by taxi). Your tour package will include more than enough metro tickets for the duration of the championships. This stadium has also hosted UEFA cup final, Champions League final, Michael Jackson, U2, Madonna, The Rolling Stones and most recently Red Hot Chilli Peppers!

Programme & Tickets

The World Championships competition takes place over 15 sessions between 10th-18th August 2013, with Morning and Evening sessions daily except Wednesday 14th (morning only), Sat17th and Sun 18th (evening only).

With total seating capacity around 75,000 there are numerous options for fans even after VIP's and Press have been provided for.

By special arrangement with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) we have an allocation of best seats in different sections to suit all budgets – numbered and reserved in Green sector 6, best of house seats in Dark Blue sector 1 and back straight tickets are in Cream sector 3.

Tickets for the full programme are very reasonably priced - less than one Olympic 100m final ticket!

Ticket Prices 9 Days
Tribune A Finish Line (Dark Blue 1) £720 from £75
Tribune A Home Straight (Green 6) £270 from £30
Tribune C Back Straight (Cream 3) £150 from £15-£30

NB: We do not provide a ’ticket only’ service.

Moscow is served by three international airports and we may use all three. Airport transfers are included in your tour cost and will be provided by coach or minibus depending on numbers. Transfer times will vary depending on which airport you fly to; which hotel you are staying at; and traffic at the time of day you are travelling. No transfers are expected to take more than an hour. For Peter 1st / Budapest Hotels and BA flights, the projection is 35-50 mins.

For the stadium, we appreciate not everyone wants to watch all sessions from start to finish and we also know that the most cost-efficient, most time-efficient and least stressful way to come and go is on the Metro system. So all travellers will be provided with Metro tickets and no doubt a tour leader will guide you on the first day. And of course we will be providing maps!

We have substantial group allocations of British Airways flights, direct from London/Heathrow on the quickest, preferred route. Our original allocation of flights has been fulfilled and we have more direct flights but prices may be subject to change on the total tour cost. Limited availability on group fares from April, contact us for options.

The BA direct flights offer a choice outbound on either...

Thursday 8th BA 235 Heathrow - Moscow 1105-1805
Friday 9th BA 233 Heathrow - Moscow 0850-1525

...and returning from Moscow or St.Petersburg

Monday 19th BA 234 Moscow - Heathrow 1925-2030
Thursday 22nd BA 879 St.Petersburg - Heathrow 1655-1730

These provide for 10 or 11-night tours to Moscow, 13 or 14-night tours to Moscow + St.Petersburg.

Easyjet now fly from Manchester and Gatwick to Moscow and prices are generally competitive and may offer a small discount on the group fares we have with BA. Please note timings can be early starts and late arrivals and if booking an Easyjet flight you may be travelling outside any group and therefore the transfer costs can be for a private transfer.

Note - group flights are allocated strictly on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
