The third edition of the SPAR European Team Championships will be staged in Stockholm’s Olympic Stadium on 18th - 19th June.

The European Team Championships has evolved from the European Cup and was established in its current format in 2009. The 12 leading athletics nations in Europe now compete with combined men's and women's teams - one athlete per event in 20 events each for men and women. It is the only international team event in athletics and, in its earlier European Cup format, was very popular with British travelling fans for the last 30 years.

The competing nations are:
Belarus, Great Britain & Northern Ireland, Russia, Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, France, Poland, Sweden, Germany, Portugal & Ukraine.

Stockholm's Olympic Stadium is a superb, atmospheric venue, ideal for this event. Originally built for the 1912 Olympic Games, it has hosted international athletics events ever since and seen 83 world records set over the years. Located close to the city centre with a Metro station close by, it is just a 15-minute stroll from our hotels.

The two-day programme is well-established, starting each day with the Hammer competitions and finishing with the relays. You will find the full timetable here.

Three-Night Tour Itinerary

  • Friday 17th June - On arrival at Arlanda International Airport, you will met by an All Sports Travel tour leader, before being transported by private coach to your preferred hotel in Stockholm. Once settled in, we invite you to head out and explore this great city. In the evening, join your fellow travellers aboard a welcome boat trip under fifteen bridges and passing through two locks connecting the Baltic Sea with Lake Mälaren.
  • Saturday 18th - Sunday 19th June - After breakfast and morning at leisure each day, make your own way to the stadium for the afternoon competition programme. Evenings free.
  • Monday 20th June - After breakfast and a morning at leisure, there will be time for some lunch before you board your coach to the airport for your mid-afternoon flight home.

Hellsten Hotel (4*)

This exceptional property has 78 rooms, all with satellite TV, free Wi-Fi and wired broadband. We stayed here for our inspection visit and were very impressed with its charm, character and highly unusual decor - furniture, souvenirs and relics from Sweden, Asia and Africa. It has an atmospheric and comfortable colonial-style bar, all-day complimentary coffee in the lounge, plus a sauna and mini-gym.

Upgrades to Superior rooms and Junior Suites may be available on request. Please contact us to discuss.

Rex Hotel (3*)

Directly opposite the Hellsten, and under the same ownership and management, this is another excellent property with 58 en-suite rooms, comfortably furnished in modern and typically Scandinavian style. The reception area is welcoming and spacious, Wi-Fi and broadband are free and residents here can enjoy the bar, sauna and gymnasium a few steps across the street at the Hellsten.
